I was a little worried when I saw the first episode of KBC – Kaun Banega Crorepati (Indian version of “who wants to be a millionaire”) with Shah Rukh Khan this year. He seemed not to be comfortable and was seen making efforts to be as mature sounding as Amitabh Bachan. He just could not be like him. I thought this program was doomed even before it started. To my surprise, after the 3rd episode, Shah Rukh Khan changed the way he was conducting the game show. He was more relaxed and into the game. This made me think what was different between his first episode and now. The only thing that I could figure out that he was being himself and spontaneous. Its was not about what he was doing, it was about who he was. He was having fun on the show and fun replicates itself when encouraged. The game today is more fun that I had thought it would be with Shah Rukh Khan. He has kept away from using big and not so easy to understand words. He has kept it simple enough to touch everyone’s heart. I read somewhere that one should capitalize on the spontaneous, keeping it simple by not over thinking it. I guess it works for Shah Rukh Khan and KBC.
