Birthday – a day of “Gratitude”

It was an interesting day for me yesterday….(actually…its past midnight that I writing this, so may be day before) my birth day.
Started on a perfect note, my son, who usually asks me to let him sleep 5 minutes longer, got up on time, and made efforts to get ready for school before time, just so he could have enough time to cut my birthday cake before he left for school.
As luck would have it, I got to visit Gurudwara Bangla Sahib because of some plan that included that as a meeting point. Even though I am not particularly a religious kind of a person, I do believe in living a spiritual life, and for some reason I sense positivity and peace whenever I visit Gurudwara Bangla Sahib. It felt wonderful to be there that day, and that too in the morning.
For all the efforts my son had put in to make it special for me, we decided that whatever plan we made, included him. So, it was a visit to the mall where he could get to spend some time in the play area, and Ekta (my wife) and I along with my parents (in-law) could grab a meal together. My father in law specially took time off from his usually hectic schedule to spend full day with us. The usual calls from my sister, her husband, my brother -in-law and sis-in-law, as usual, made my day brighter for me. I love them all.

Thanks to Facebook, my day was filled with more than usual wishes, but what was special was that so many friends and family too time to call me up to wish me on my special day. Day was full of surprises when people I had met in the recent past for work, who had no professional connect with me anymore, as well as some old friends, took time to not only ping me but made an effort to call me to wish me was awesome. It did make me feel special and make me believe that how you treat people can go a long way to establish relationships that go beyond reasons and benefits.
The only thing I miss on my birthdays is my Mom’s rare hug and my Dad’s kiss on my cheeks on this special day.
This was the first time that I was struggling to “like” all wishes on Facebook and / or respond to each and every person individually. (Though i will make sure I acknowledge in next few days).
The only word that can describe my feeling of this day is “Gratitude”. It was indeed a “happy” birth day.
